May 4, 2002 Birthday Celebration

Since they had very hungry guests (ex. Steve in the background) and no meat left, Nick and Chi prepare to toss Chris into the barbeque.

Heehee, just kidding!  Chi holding Chris was probably the only 2 seconds Chris was not running around tying balloons together.

Chris at work getting more balloons much to Olivia's horror.  Chris made a show of tying several balloons together and 'pretending' to set them free.  Olivia advocated otter safety and tried to stop Chris since the plastic balloons can suffocate the poor creatures.
Save the otters!
People alternated on who gets to sit, thereby prompting the aforementioned mingling.

Here, Tom regales his crowd of listeners.  Harold just happened to pass by in search of chicken.

Danny immersed in what Tom had to say.
Mahir helps Harold by pointing towards the source of the yummy smells (and the smoke).
One of the birthday people, Kyle along with Tuan and Olivia.
We're too cool for you. :)
Anh introduces a friend, Teresa who gets to see the diversity of the group.
Oops, that yellow balloon is trying to get away!
Another one of those 'fake' candid shots, this time with Danny and me as victims.

Trying to think of what to write on Cindrella birthday cards was tough.

Oh, so that's how to solve quadratic equations, says Jane.
Stretching is always good before any sport or exercise.  Tom demonstrates, even if he will just be using his legs.  Steve thinks that he can do two things at once -- eat and play.
Preparing for a serious Vietnamese hackey sack game.
It was confusing trying to find out which card you've signed or not. Here, Kyle pretends not to know that one of them is his.
Hmm, happy over the hill?
Chris' balloons tied to the house roof will always be a reminder of that fun afternoon.  Thanks to Chi and Nick for organizing the barbeque party.  To Kyle for even getting the whole thing together.  To him and all the other birthday people -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Darn, we broke another window!
